Sally Smith

Nature and Film Enthusiast, Adventurer, and
Sportwoman.

As a child, I grew up terrified of the world around me. Rugby was a passion, but besides that, I was fearful of the outside world and what it had in store for me. Yet as I grew older, I began to explore. Nature fascinated me, and so I spent many afternoons rambling through the countryside of my village in England. Eventually, I pushed myself to join a travelling school, as the world had gradually stopped scaring me, and now all I really wanted was to explore. My passion of rugby stayed with me throughout my travels, and my love of nature only grew as I hiked up Mount Trusmadi and learned to scuba dive off the coast of Muscat Oman. While exploring, I realised another passion of mine was film, which I nurtured by making videos of the places that I traveled  to.  Now that I am older, and I can look back on my childhood, the thing that I would tell my younger self is that the world will come for you whether you like it or not. So reach out and live life to the fullest, unrestricted by fear, because that makes everything less scary.

My Projects

For the past two years of my life, I have had the opportunity to attend Think Global School (TGS). TGS is a school built on project-based and place-based learning. Due to the nature of the TGS curriculum, I have been able to be a part of and create many projects. To see some of my favourite projects, click the button below.

Project Example

To understand marine conservation/ biology better, I completed my PADI Open Water scuba diving and reef check diver course to be able to complete transect studies in the ocean.  I looked at the heath of invertebrates, fish and substrates through this study.

After learning about the ocean, I wanted a way for marine conservation to be recognised and enjoyed by the younger generation so I created my own children's scientific magazine in hopes to spark interest into the next generation.
